We are delighted to bring you a special interview with the secretary general of the largest kyokushin federation KWU Aleksandr Pitchkounov for our media given during the Varna camp co-hosted by KWU and the BKKF. The interview was taken by our world champion Stanislava Boycheva.

1. Boec.BG: Hello, sensei Pitchkounov. In December you were elected secretary general of the largest kyokushin federation KWU. This is a big and responsible position; would you share more on this matter?

sensei Pitchkounov: Yes this is a very hot chair to sit in. One must always be aware what is going on in the kyokushin world. It is required that you develop relations and interactions with all KWU members. Parallel to this, one must also maintain and create relations with other types and styles of karate outside the KWU.

2. What can we expect from Aleksandr Pitchkounov as far as the future of Kyokushin goes?

sensei Pitchkounov: My main goal is to promote Kyokushin worldwide, as well as to develop international relations in the world of Kyokushin. We would work hard to host championships and forums on Kyokushin in conjunction with other partners from the KWU.

3. Could you care to tell us a little bit more about yourself in personal perspective as you are truly one of the most interesting people in the Kyokushin world right now and all fans have their eyes on you?

sensei Pitchkounov: I was born in the city of Perm in 1979. I started Kyokushin karate in 1993 with coach Sergey Alexandrovich Gostev. In 1998 I was training under the supervision of sensei Alexander Alimov. During my competitive career I managed to win International competitions, European championship and first prizes in international Russian tournaments. In 2003 I started contesting in the professional league ICHIGEKI and K-1.

4. What should we expect from the KWU during this year?

sensei Pitchkounov: The first Open Championship of Africa (Tunisia), camp in Kamchia (Bulgaria), as well as discussions on other forums.

5. Right now you are attending a camp hosted by the KWU and the Bulgarian Kyokushin Karate Federation. How is this forum going and what are your impressions from the participants?

sensei Pitchkounov: BKKF hosts the practice and training camp 16-18th February for the national teams of Bulgaria, Belarus and Russia.

Parallel to that, there was a referee seminar with shihan Ramil Gabbasov. This event did bring a lot of positive response. All participants demonstrated perfect physical preparation.

The Bulgarian school of karate has always been prestigious. Bulgaria has always had highly developed Kyokushin. Bulgarian fighters are one of the strongest in the world. A great number of them are world champions, European champions and international prize winners. BKKF is open for interaction and cooperation with other karate institutions. Holding events, such as the one in Varna, the BKKF contributes greatly to the international Kyokushin development.

sensei Pitchkounov: I would like to thank all people involved with the organization of this seminar and in particular shihan Ivo Kamenov and also to whish further development and strength to the BKKF.
