The Bulgarian Kyokushin Team of the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation (BKKF) won the impressive 13 medals at the Kyokushin Open in Belarus. The forum featured 250 fighters from Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Iran, Russia, Belarus and Bulgaria. Four karateka from the BKKF won the first place. It was gold medals for Dimitar Dimitrov (men, 75 kg), Lachezar Plachorov in category over 75 kg in junior male, and junior female titles went to Zhasmina Yancheva (up to 14 years, 50 kg) and Simona Ivanova (up to 17 years, 50 kg). Vice-champions: Ivan Ivanov (men, 75 kg), Maria Chepilova (junior females, over 65 kg), Yani Krastev (juniors, 75 kg), Valentin Valchanov (juniors, 70 kg), Alexandar Yordanov (men, 85 kg), Miglen Dimitrov (juniors, over 65 kg).
Bronze medals were awarded to: Martina Hazhiiska (junior females, over 65 kg), Gergana Paunova (junior female, 55 kg), Galya Atanasova (junior females, 50 kg). Sensei Hristo Hristov is the coach of the male team, and the sensei Zhivko Andreev and Milush Draganov are the coaches of junior male and female teams respectively. This is the second great success for the BKKF within one month. Only a week ago Bulgarian Karateki returned home from the European Kyokushin Karate Championship in Poland with 13 more medals – 4 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze. The next big competition in the calendar of our karateka is the kyokushin tournament in Japan. It will take place between the 25th and the 27th of November.
