Three champion titles and a total of 18 medals – that is the summary for the karateka of the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation from the championship for men and women between 18 and 21 years old KWU Cup Varna 2017. This event was organized for the penultimate day of the kyokushin training camp in Kamchia and it featured125 fighters from 16 countries.
Bulgarian karateka put up more than an excellent performance. Ia Kostova, Victoria Naskova and Mihaema Ivanova grabbed the gold medals in their categories. Silver medals were awarded to 5 of our contestants – Valeria Lozanova, Donika Zhelyazkova, Mihail Parkov, Angel Vetsov and Christian Doychev. 10 more karateka managed to fight their way to the bronze medal – Iva Nedeva, Krasimira Mireva, Marina Hadzhiiska, Mirela Lyubenova, Maria Chepilova, Stilyan Petkov, Ivaylo Marinov, Berkdzhan Shen, Christean Dobrev, Lachezar Plachorov.
One of the four prizes “Will to win” also went to a Bulgarian contestant – Mihail Parkov.
After the kyokushin competition KWU Varna Cup 2017, the last day of the Kamchia training camp was dedicated to dan exams. Over 600 karateka appeared at the exam on the 8th of July in order to receive a higher dan in kyokushin karate. The exam was led by the kyokushin karate legend Kancho Hatsuo Royama. He was certain that the contestants are at a much higher level compared to previous years and everybody performed outstandingly. In the end of the day all medalists, champions, referees and coaches closed the camp with sayonara party with which they said goodbye to each other.
This year’s kyokushin camp at Kamchia was the largest, not only in Bulgaria, but worldwide. It featured over 1300 fighters, referees and coaches. This year the event was hosted by the Kyokushin World Union (KWU) and the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation.
