Bulgarian karateka won a prestigious win at the professional tournament WFKO Grand Prix at Kamchia. Nikolay Yorgov from the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation won the championship after meeting a Japanese contestant. Both of them displayed impressive karate and skill and referees could not name a winner. By the WKFO rulebook in that case the last word is for the head of referees who decided to give the win to Yorgov. The second matchup of the tournament was between Alexandr Drozhd from Russia and Adrey Andreev from the BKKF as the win was for the Russian.
The professional Grand Prix tournament was hosted by our country for the first time within the duration of the kyokushin karate training camp in Kamchia. This year over 1250 fighters, coaches and referees attended the naval city to exchange experience and techniques from the martial art during the camp.
The other spectacular event during the camp will be the cadet competition – Varna Cup 2017. Competitors between 18 and 21 years old from various countries will have their eyes on the medals. This event is set for tomorrow, the 7th of July at 13:00 hours in Sanatoria – healthcare complex “Kamchia”.
This year’s kyokushin camp started on the 2nd of July and will last until the 9th of July. It is hosted by the Kyokushin World Union (KWU) and the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation as this is the first time to gather so many karateka and fans of the martial art.
