It is a few hours before the kickoff of the largest kyokushin karate event – the KWU World Championship. We continue the interviews with our karateka and today we would like you to meet Gabriela Mircheva, one of the youngest contestants in our team.

Boec.BG: Hello, Gabi. You come in as one of the youngest karateka of the National Team. How do you feel about that and are more experienced karateka helping you feel better and eventually to overcome the adrenalin rush at big tournaments?

Gabriela: I feel great thanks to my teammates. Our team is very collaborative and we all help each other out in difficult times. At the tatami it matters not how old are you, nor does your gender – we are just striving to achieve the best results possible.

Boec.BG: Out of so many competitions under your belt, which one stands out as your favorite and why?

Gabriela: It is the competition that made me a world champion. The feeling was sensational.

Boec.BG: How do you manage to combine your university duties with the intensive training?

Gabriela: In my case sports and education go together, because even though it sounds a bit odd, I do believe that these two are very similar. Every tournament requires hard work and training, so does every exam and therefore I sit down and do the review and learning I need to do in order to get the best possible result when the exam comes.

Boec.BG: How is your training for the KWU World Championship in Russia coming together?

Gabriela: Precisely as expected – intensive training twice a day and a very strict nutrition regime.

Boec.BG: Are you ready to give your best and to bring glory to Bulgaria with a gold medal at the highest event in your craft?

Gabriela: I do not want to make any preliminary prognosis, so what I can say is that I will really give them a run for their money.

Boec.BG: Any final thoughts for the readers of Boec.BG?

Gabriela: Always believe in yourself and never let your fighting spirit go!
