The current European karate Kyokushin champion from the men Kristiyan Doychev added one more honor to his shelf. The national from Bulgaria took part in the debut edition of Kyokushin World Super League in Sidney, Australia and went home with the champion belt.
This first tournament is by the idea of Daniel Trifu intending to popularize the sport in the country and to attract more young Australian people in the Kyokushin halls. Part of the top fighters of different World forces in Kyokushin, like in Bulgaria, were invited. The attractive fights had to prove to the locals what type of qualifications this sport has and why is practiced.
The meetings in this tournament are held under the rules of the professional Kyokushin. The duo fights were in three rounds long 2 minutes each. The multiple-time champion of Bulgaria Kristiyan Doychev won with a unanimous referee’s decision against the house representative and local champion Hamid Zandi. Next to Doychev in this challenge was the senior trainer of the national team Sensei Zahari Damyanov.
