The brothers Georgi and Kristiyan Doychevi are successfully bringing honors from the Kyokushin World Championship, which was held in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.
Kristiyan Doychev reached the final on the Kyokushin World Championship. He is in the category up to 85 kg and started directly from the second round, where he won over Basmatsidis from Greece. On the 1/4- finals Doychev was categorical, prevailing with a minute in the competition with Kamil Mastay from Poland. This provided him a medal from the championship.
The duel for entering the big final countered Bulgaria and Russia. Doychev’s opponent on the semi-finals was Stanislav Stepankov
from Russia. The superiority of Doychev was obvious and Stepankov allowed himself to hit our native national in
the adductors. This didn’t let Kristiyan down, who didn’t stop fighting till the end. Tomorrow he will dispute for the gold against the hosts’ representative Vladimir Artyushin.
Georgi Doychev won a bronze medal in the category up to 80 kg. Sequentially, he won against opponents from Spain and Hungary. He also crushed Dimitri Suykovski from Latvia in the most important fight from the 1/4 semi-finals. On the semi-finals, Georgi gave everything from himself but didn’t manage to win against the Russian competitor Alexander Drozd and lost the meeting for getting on the big final.
Within the 60 kg category, Dilyan Nikolov started with a victory over Damyan Bilbak from Poland but lost afterward against Sergo Movsesyan from Georgia in a direct fight for a medal on the 1/4- final.
Berkdzhab Shen started with two successes – over the representative of Bahrain from Tunisia but lost from the Russian Ivan Tumashev in the meeting for the medal, within the 65 kg category.
In the category up to 75 kg, Dimitar Dimitrov started with a victory over the representative of South Africa but dropped out in the next phase from the representative of Afghanistan.
Yordan Miladinov and Georgi Ivanov made it up to the 1/4- finals in their categories but there they lost the fights, which would have secured their medals. Georgi Ivanov (90 kg) started with success over the Iranian competitor, but on the 1/4- finals lost from Suyunov from Kazakhstan. After this fight, he had to give up because of a serious hit on his head. Miladinov won his fight against the Chilean in the category up to 95 kg, but he lost from Kazakhstan’s representative – Nikita Garas.
Andrey Andreev lost on the first round in the category up to 70 kg. He didn’t manage to deal with the representative of the hosts Yerkebulan Bisenbayev. Hristo Georgiev also didn’t manage to praise himself with success within the heaviest (+95kg). The Bulgarian lost his meeting from the first round against Rustam Avzalov from Kazakhstan.
All our three representatives within the women dropped out early in the competition. Gabriela Mircheva (50 kg) lost in the first meeting from Beth Rowlands from the UK. Iya Kostova started successfully against Merve Sesen from Turkey but lost in her second duel in Nur-Sultan in the category up to 55 kg. Mariela Lyubenova, who missed the first round in the category up to 60 kg. and lost in the second one from Agnes Vestrin from Sweden.
The trainers’ team in Kazakhstan is in the staff of sensei Zahari Damyanov, sensei Jivko Andreev and sempai Alexandra Marinova.
