The Executive Director of the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation sensei Stoyan Dimitrov gave an interview on the upcoming karate World Championship and his prognosis for the outcome for Bulgaria On Air.
The National Team coach sensei Ivan Ivanov: in our team’s core we have potential medalists.
The training of the National Team for the 5th Open World Championship of kyokushin karate for junior male and female is in its final phase. The contest is hosted by the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation and will take place on December 3rd and 4th at the Palace of Culture and Sports in Varna.
As the coach of the National Team sensei Ivan Ivanov stated, the training has lasted almost 3 months and the test of the core competitors was during the International kyokushin karate tournament in Hungary.
“It is an advantage that the World Championship is in Bulgaria. Except the firm core of our team, made of professional karateka with international experience in spite of their young age, we can use many new karateka with fresh forces and hope for a good result and eventual discovery of new representatives for future tournaments”, said sensei Ivanov.
In our national team’s core one sees potential medalists. Those are the world champions from Moscow 2014 – Kristian Stankov and Valeria Lozanova, as well as Maria Chepilova (2013).
Sensei Zhivko Andreev: Japanese and Russians are our biggest competitors
“We expect the biggest competition from the Japanese and the Russians, as well as some from Hungary, Armenia and Kazakhstan, which are also on the level. We have exceptionally good performance from our juniors I would even say competitive”, said sensei Zhivko Andreev.
The karateka have to show great technique during training, but also good physical and mental preparation for the big event. In the opinion of both coaches, juniors have to know that they go out to fight and win.
