Alexander Komanoiv won the title and Bulgaria received a total of six medals in the third world championship of the Kyokushin World Union (KWU) in Yekaterinburg (Russia).

Komanov triumphed in category up to 90 kg after overcoming the Lithuanian Ketsutis Radvila in the final match.

Alexander’s brother – Ivan Komanov won the silver medal in the competition up to 70 kg after losing the final against the representative of Russia Sergey Chmunevich.

Bronze medals were awarded to: Ia Kostova (55 kg), Dilyan Nikolov (60 kg), Georgi Doychev (75 kg) and Hristo Georgiev (over 95 kg).

Bulgaria participated at the KWU world championship with the BKKF national team with 11 contestants.

“The competition was fierce, but our karateka were outstanding” was the categorical comment of the BKKF national team Zahari Damyanov.
