The 36th European karate Kyokushin tournament, organized by the Kyokushin World Federation (KWF) started wonderfully. The event took place in Vila do Conde, Portugal.

On the first day of the championship, Bulgaria won 13 medals. On Friday, boys and girls were competing on the tatami mats, where we won 4 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze medals.

Plamena Yakimova, Velizar Gospodinov, Viktor Merazov, and Alexander Aleksiev took first place. Teodora Popova, Nikolinka Boyadjieva, Todor Krushov, Atanas Georgiev and Georgi Yordanov took second place. Denis Sabri, Viktor Kolev, Monika Stoyanova, and Gabriel Kostov took third place.

The trainers of the national team – boys and girls, Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation are Jivko Andreev and Hristo Hristov.

The European tournament will continue on Saturday, 26th October with battles within the youngsters till the age of 21 and within the man and women. Bulgaria is participating with the overall of 44 contesters.
