Our karateka won three gold medals at the World Championship of Kyokushin Karate in Varna
Monika Dimitrova (50 kg), Valeria Lozanova (55 kg) and Lyubomira Nikolova (60 kg) are the new golden girls of Bulgaria. They won three gold medals at the Fifth Open World Championship of Kyokushin Karate for junior male and female in age group 16 – 17 years old.
The contest, which was under the patronage of the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation was held on the 3rd and 4th of December in Varna and was attended by almost 700 contestants from 33 countries.
Monika and Valeria faced Russian opponents for their championships, and Lyubomira managed to overcome her opponent from Kazakhstan and won the gold. The triple success electrified the crowd at “Congress” arena at the Palace of Culture and Sport.
From the contestants between 16 and 17 years old Sara Ivanova reached the silver (65 kg) and Ivan Popov (+65 kg) fought his way to the second place amongst junior ;en between 14 and 15 years old.
Bronze medals for category 16-17 years old were won by Stoyan Ilchev (65 kg), Kristian Stankov (75 kg). For 14-15 years old karateka Maria Chepilova (+ 60 kg), Vasil Dimitrov (+65 kg) and Nikola Kyuchukov (+65 kg) thrived with the bronze medal and Zhasmina Yancheva
