Sensei Zahari Damyanov is the absolute world champion of kyokushin karate, four times European champion in super heavyweight category +90kg, four times champion of America at All American Open (in absolute category), one second and one third place at the World Championship with categories, two second places at a Japanese tournament with categories and once in absolute category. Now he is the coach of the National Team at the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation. With the upcoming events for this year, we from Boec.BG, decided to reach him for a brief interview.

– Good day, sensei Damyanov. How is 2018 starting out for you?
– Hello, this year starts very well. I am loaded with energy for all upcoming events!

– Which tournaments are you attending this year? Did you manage to sort out your calendar?
– Our first competition is the National Tournament in Stara Zagora set for the 31.03-01.04.2018. It will be attended by all national representatives and naturally the prize winners will participate at this year’s world championships. As per usual, this year’s calendar is pretty packed. We have the open championships of Japan, Europe and several World Forums.

– When is the first camp?
– We will have camps, but no dates were discussed yet. We foresee a meeting between the 17th and 18th of February for the first general training sessions with all national team members of various ages (junior men, junior women and seniors).

– What will be the main focal point during the preparation of our national teams? Should we expect novelties?
– We will work mostly on improving basic qualities, such as strength, stamina and technique.

– What can you share for all the readers of Boec.BG, who would witness this year’s full coverage of all major tournaments?
– For all your readers out there I can baldly state that our team will give its absolute best to make them proud!
