The Bulgarian junior national team of kyokushin karate won its next lot of prizes at the German Open Championship for Juniors in Berlin, which was held on March 14th 2015.
Amongst the 12-13 year olds we had Kristian Barbov and Alex Valev. 14-15 year olds – Kristian Stankov, Ivan Popov, Valentin Valchanov, Stoyan Hristov and Vasil Dimitrov. Amongst the 16-17 year olds – Ivaylo Marinov, Ilian Strebkov, Stilyan Petkov, Mihail Parkov, Angel Angelov and Vladislav Ivanov.
Our boys won 10 medals: 3 gold for Kristian Stankov, Ivaylo Marinov and Valentin Valchinov; 2 silver – Alex Vasilev and Stilyan Petkov; 5 bronze – Mihail Parkov, Ivan Popov, Kristian Barbov, Ilian Strebkov and Stoyan Hristov. The cup for best knockout went to Alex Valev. Vasil Dimitrov, Angel Angelov and Vladislav Ivanov did not make it into the medals, but gave their opponents a very tough time. The all Bulgarian final was between Ivaylo and Stilyan and the all Bulgarian semifinal in the same category was between Stilyan and Mihail. There was one more all Bulgarian semifinal between Kristian Stankov and Ivan Popov.
Our country was represented by a total of 13 karateka. The coaches are Zhivko Andreev and Ivan Ivanov and the official representative is Prolet Vasileva.
