
The national Karate Kyokushin-kan team of Bulgaria will fight for seven medals at the First KWU European Championship for men and women in categories. The prestigious tournament is held in Belgrade, Serbia and is organized at the initiative of BKKF and KWU.
The BKKF competitors demonstrated enviable qualities in the battles on the first day of the competition. For the gold among men at the finals on Sunday will fight Dilyan Nikolov /up to 60 kg/ and his rival will be Sergo Armeniyan from Russia, while Ivan Komanov will fight for the first place in category up to 70 kg with the Russian Hasai Magomedov. The elder brother of the Komanov family – Alexander /up to 85 kg/, will also fight at the finals, against Artem Semenov from Russia.
Iya Kostova /up to 55 kg/ and Mihaela Ivanova /up to 65 kg/ will fight for the gold among women. At the semifinals Mihaela was knocked twice by her opponent, who used banned techniques. Nevertheless, our girl showed an incredible sportsmanship and character and qualified for the final phase.
For the bronze fought Berkdzhan Shen /up to 65 kg/ and Kristian Doychev /up to 90 kg/.
Georgi Doychev /up to 80 kg/ failed to reach the semifinals, as well as and Deyan Bratkov /up to 75 kg/ due to an injury. Our representative among women in category up to 60 kg Krasimira Mireva dropped out after a controversial fight with her first opponent. The finals and the awards ceremony are on Sunday.
