The Bulgarian competitors won 3 silver medals and the overall of 12 bronze medals on the first kyokushin World Cup “Varna” on KWU. The event was held in the Black Sea resort Kamchia and 428 karatekas from 28 countries took part in it. The Bulgarian representatives, who fought on the tatamitis were, around 60 and 15 from them won honors.
In the smallest age group within the girls (14-15 years old, category till 60 kg.), a silver medal took Monika Stoyanova after beating her competitors from Kazakhstan and Ukraine but at the end retreated over another Ukraine girl. In the same age group but the category above 60kg., Hristiyana Dimitrova won third place. From 14-15 years old boys, three of them won bronze – Atanas Georgiev, Stefan Kesarovski (category till 50 kg.) and Viktor Merazov (category till 55 kg.)
Our second and third silver medals were taken by the participants form the gentle gender from the age gap 16-17 years old – Plamena Yakimova (category till 55 kg.) and Nikol Harizanova (category till 60 kg.). To be able to get to the second place, Plamena beat her Russian competitor Alena Cecieva and her Bulgarian teammate Galya Atanasova, who won bronze. Nikol got through her competitors from Russia and Kazakhstan to won silver medals.
Bronze medals were also given to Plamen Penev (category till 65 kg. 16-17 years old) and Georgi Ivanov (category till 75 kg, 16-17 years old). Within the older – 18-21 years old, Marina Vasileva (category till 75 kg), Ivan Georgiev (category till 60 kg), Atanas Spirtov and Nikola Kyuruchkov (category till 75 kg) and Vasil Dimitrov (category over 85 kg) got the third place. The first edition of the Kyokushin World Cup “Varna” on KWU will be held in the frame of the 13th international karate Kyokushin camp, which is currently happening in Kamchia. It is organized from the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation and the World kyokushin unit. Special guests are going to be the super legends Semmy Schilt and Peter Arts, who are doing personal training in the frame of the camp.
Another important event is held today in the Kyokushin calendar – the special edition of the first karate Kyokushin tournament SENSHI Cup which will be held under the rules of completely new rules on the Professional league on World Kyokushin unit. The first karate Kyokushin gala evening of this type starts at 8 PM in the amphitheater in Kamchia and it will last till tomorrow evening.
