The series of interviews with the karateka from our National Team who would participate at the upcoming KWU World Championship in Russia this week continues. Today we bring you Ivan Doychev:

Boec.BG: Hello, Georgi. You are one of the young and very promising Bulgarian kyokushin karate competitors and not only. Would you care to share a bit more on your career up to this point and of course give us a little background on yourself in order to spread the word of Georgi Doychev – the man and karateka to more people.

Georgi: Greetings. I am practicing kyokushin karate for 16 years already. It was from the earliest child age that me and my brother wanted to practice some martial art, because we loved the movies with fighting scenes and our father decided to take us to karate sessions. With time I loved it and it is up until this day that I practice this art, which became an integral part from my daily life.

Boec.BG: You are often named as one of the most talented karateka and the future of Bulgarian kyokushin. How did you get here and what did that cost you?

Georgi: I am glad to hear those superlatives for my craft. Everything I enjoy is the result of many training hours, hard work and modesty.

Boec.BG: How does one of your training days go?

Georgi: For me the day starts with the morning training which is at 8:00 hours for an hour and a half to two. I also have training at 17:00.

Boec.BG: How about outside the dojo?

Georgi: Whenever I am not training, between the first and second training sessions I use my time to rest.

Boec.BG: You are facing the biggest contest in kyokushin – the KWU World Championship in Russia. What are you expecting from that tournament and how do you see your performance in it given that you are most likely familiar with the competition?

Georgi: It is a strong tournament. There will be very well trained and experienced karateka, but despite all that I feel prepared and I will give 100%.

Boec.BG: What is the difference between your training for the National Team in general and the one outside the World Championship?

Georgi: The preparation for the World Championship differs in its much greater length and difficulty. We attended several preparation camps, one of which was in Russia, where we had the chance to exchange experience with the Russian karateka.
