We are pleased to bring you a terrific interview with Ivan Komanov – another karateka from our National Team who would participate at the upcoming KWU World Championship in Russia this week!
Boec.BG: Hello, Ivan. You are one of the most loved Bulgarian kyokushin karateka. You and your brother produce the impression of very polite and considerate karateka. Would you share a little bit more on what did it take throughout the years to learn these skills and ultimately when you two did became an example to be given?
Ivan: It was from our early child age that we had the benefit of the kyokushin virtues. Our father always encouraged us to be tough all the while we are humble and respectable to the person in front of us. Now it is our turn to get this message to the younger generation.
Boec.BG: What is your advantage compared to your opponents and is most important for you?
Ivan: My preparation against every opponent and my will to win.
Boec.BG: If there was a contest that you did not win, but you really wanted to, then what would it be and why?
Ivan: One of the things you learn with kyokushin is not to regret for past events. Certainly there are tournaments that I did not win, but I regret not, because every battle gives you a lot of valuable knowledge and lessons to be used later on.
What I want now is to win the champion’s title at the World Championship in Russia. I am training very hard to attain my goal.
Boec.BG: What is in your training for the KWU World Championship in Russia? Is there something more special this time?
Ivan: For every competition we try to catch our opponents off –guard with something new. This time was no exception as we worked on our tactics to add specific qualities and little touches. However, I would rather keep the secret and use the element of surprise during the tournament itself.
Boec.BG: Whatcan we expect from you after this tournament in both professional and personal plan?
Ivan: After the tournament we will have a recovery and preparation periods for the next event. In parallel I work on my career as an attorney as I graduated my degree in Law from the Plovdiv University a month ago.
Boec.BG: Any final words to the readers of Boec.BG?
Ivan: You are not failing when you fall, but when you refuse to go back up again. Do not stop following your dreams and get up after every hit.
