In 10 days we will see the KWU World Championship in Russia. It will be held in Yekaterinburg, Russia between the 9th and the 10th of December. There we will be able to see one of the youngest and yet the most renowned karateka – Mihaela Ivanova. Today we give you a brief, but very intense interview, which, we hope, will shed some light on her both as a person and a fighter.
Before going into the questions here is a small part of Mihaela’s sports card:
World Champion up to 18 years old KWU Varna, year 2013;
Vice – European Champion KWU 2016, Serbia;
Vice – European Champion KWF 2016, Netherlands, as well as holder of: International Cup KWU Varna, year 2017. Of course she won the national championship many times and when one comes to think that the best is yet to come.
Now here is the interview as promised:
Boec.BG: Hello, Mihaela. Can you introduce yourself for the countless fans of martial arts in Bulgaria?
Mihaela: Hi there, my name is Mihaela Ivanova and I am 21 years old. I am training 16 years already and my passion for martial arts came from my brother who was also into them. I will never forget how at one of my first ever competitions I won the first place and I never wanted to get down. Hah! Ever since that moment I am always aimed at the very top.
Boec.BG: You represent one of the young hopes for the Bulgarian kyokushin and your results just keep on getting better, which reasonably makes you one of the best and not only in Bulgaria. Would you tell us how much did all of this coasted you, as well as what did you went through before and what are you going through now?
Mihaela: A lot of your personal life has to go away. I am a student now and quite often it is difficult to combine karate and learning into on but I always give my best effort for there is no better feeling, than the one of personal satisfaction. And the thrill during a tournament with the entire National Team, which is like a second family to me, where we are always together in both victories and defeats, is just second to none and unforgettable. I was able to come so far thanks to my team and my coaches and I will continue to grow.
Boec.BG: It is one of the biggest and toughest tournaments, the KWU World Championship in Russia and only one month remaining until the kickoff. How is your preparation going and of course how about the training with the National Team?
Mihaela: True, this is the most serious tournament, which will attract some of the best and most distinct karateka. My training, as well as the team training goes on full steam, complete with dual training every day under the supervision of one of the best coaches in Bulgaria.
Boec.BG: You certainly wish to win the gold in this tournament more than anybody else, but do you think you are ready? And if so, then what should we expect from you during the contest?
Mihaela: The world champion title – yes this is one of my biggest childhood dreams! There is no option to be prepared or unprepared for the first place! Whenever you are training constantly and you fight for your dreams I think anyone will be ready for his greatest achievement! You just believe in what you are and who do you want to become, then you put your back into it, and from there on no one can stop you!
Boec.BG: The great conditions, provided to you and the rest of the National Team by the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation, are ever more impressive. Could you share more on this matter and are you feeling good from that fact? It is no surprise that better than 90% of the foreign federations cannot have such great work and conditions, so could you please tell us your opinion on that?
Mihaela: Few could be blessed with what we have thanks to the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation. Our conditions are more than wonderful as the training sessions are hosted in new arenas, which are equipped with everything required for a martial arts practitioner! We also benefit from our wonderful kinesiotherapist who does not let us complain from contusions and trauma, which is not available to everyone! I can say only one thing: I am forever grateful to be part of the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation!
