The extended National Team of the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation will come to the city of Varna between the 9th and 16th of September to undertake a training camp. This is a control meeting before the World Championship for men and women of the KWU, which will be held at the Russian city of Habarovsk in the month of October.
Under the supervision of sensei Nikolay Rachev and sensei Zhivko Andreev our lions will take on double training sessions and will receive a lot of tactical instructions. Together with the principal team we will also see the younger representatives from the extended team. They would have the chance to face the more experienced karateka and gain a lot of new knowledge. The main karate team departs for Russia on the 30th of September, where the battle for the medals will include one of the most renowned fighters from many international organizations.
At the first KWU World Championship, which was in Bulgaria in 2013, our contestants had a total of 12 medals. Aleksandra Marinova and Stilyan Petrov won gold medals and had their names written in historic print as the first ever karate champions in their categories. Vice-champions were Aleksandar Komanov, Emil Stalev and Nikolay Yorgov.
The bronze medals went to: Stanislava Boycheva, Ayshegyul Shen, Mladen Kishev, Ivan Komanov, Aleksandar Yordanov, Hristo Georgiev and Deyan Bratkov.
