On April 13, 2025, the Ivan Vazov Sports Hall in Stara Zagora became the arena for clashes, emotions, and a demonstration of exceptional fighting spirit during the 36th edition of the National Cup “Vereya,” organized by the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation (BKKF) and the hosting SK “Asken” of Shihan Asen Asenov.

The event brought together competitors from 25 clubs across the country, who competed in various age and weight categories – men, women, juniors, and girls, both junior and senior age groups. The tournament was held according to the knockout rules of the BKKF, and the matches were intense, technical, and worthy of any major championship.

In the spirit of tradition, BKKF awarded the most outstanding fighters with special prizes, highlighting not only their athletic achievements but also the values of karate – will, respect, and technical skill.

Men: Lachezar Palachorov – SK “Asken,” Stara Zagora

Juniors: Hristian Gospodinov – SK “Ikigai,” Burgas

Girls: Paolina Ivanova – SK “Senshi-do,” Lovech

 

Most Technical Competitor:

Men: Kristian Ivanov – SK “Kyokushin,” Shumen

Juniors: Daniel Atanasov – SK “Kyokushin,” Shumen

Girls: Darina Doynova – SK “Katana,” Veliko Tarnovo

 

Champions in various categories received not only medals but also training pads as a special prize, supporting their development in martial arts.

The tournament was opened by representatives of the Stara Zagora Municipality – Petko Krumov, Head of the Sports Department, and Katrin Liskova, Chief Expert. Their presence and support highlighted the importance of the event for the local community and the development of sports in the region.

For the 36th time, the Vereya Cup proved that Kyokushin karate in Bulgaria is developing with serious dynamics, high competition, and a strong fighting school. We congratulate all the participants, coaches, and clubs for their dedication and fighting spirit.
