The Serbian capital will be hosting the First KWU European Championship for male and female contestants by categories. The prestigious tournament is organized as per the initiative of the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation and the Kyokushin World Union and has the goal to continue building up karate popularity until it eventually enters the Olympic Family. In order to reach this goal, every two years there is a world championship.
Our state was also the host of such a forum in 2013. Then in the “Armeec” Arena we saw spectacular battles between world’s best and we have no doubt that the same will happen in Belgrade, only this time it will be European contestants only. The main sponsor of the event is “Armeec” insurance company, which traditionally supports the BKKF and the glory of this sport both in Bulgaria and abroad.
The Bulgarian National Team for this forum consists of six men and 3 women. Our karateka are in great shape. Today they all passed the weigh-in and are ready to jump in the medal chasing. Yet again their biggest opponents will be the Russians.
